Citi Asia Pacific
Citi is pleased to partner the Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC) to develop new approaches to understanding consumer and social behavior. This important initiative will benefit both individual consumers and businesses across a wide range of industries. As a global leader in banking, Citi is committed to harnessing new innovations to enhance products, services and experiences for our customers. The efforts in advancing intelligent systems and cutting-edge large-scale analysis of consumer behavior through LARC will contribute significantly to this. Consumer behaviors and preferences today are dynamic and constantly evolving. The increasing use of digital technology and social networks has created new streams of information that can be analysed for insights into the way people live, consume and interact. The opportunities gained from leveraging on these insights to develop relevant and useful applications for businesses and end-consumers are tremendous. The work that LARC and Citi will undertake is at the inter-disciplinary interface of consumer behavior, social networks and real-time data analytics. It will enable Citi to better understand and serve the rapidly evolving needs of its customers through the development of personalised products and services that are uniquely tailored to their lifestyles and financial needs. The industry-focused vision and deep R&D capability that LARC offers will enable Citi to advance its current best practices in consumer analytics. At the same time, the partnership will enable the bank to focus its resources on developing next-generation capabilities and intelligent processes to a degree that would not otherwise be possible. It will enable Citi to conduct complex, larger scale, real-world pilots, while accelerating the adoption of new thought processes and analytical methods, as well as the development and implementation of new applications for its business units. Citi welcomes the government’s efforts and vision in the development of next-generation analytics capability in Singapore, through initiatives such as the sponsorship of LARC. We believe that the insights, methods and tools developed through the LARC collaboration will enable Singapore to be a competency hub in this domain and will clearly benefit the wider banking and financial services industry locally, regionally and globally, as well as all companies involved in consumer and social analytics. - Mr Eric Sandosham, Head of Decision Management, Regional Consumer Bank, Citi Asia Pacific

"It is important that marketing is not done blindly but with enough insight into the customer behaviours. In a competitive and fast moving market like online games, it would be even more critical to get insight from the Living Analytics Research Centre to stay ahead.” - Mr Roderick Chia, VP, Strategic Projects, IAHGames
Resorts World Sentosa
Since its opening in January 2010, Resorts World Sentosa’s (RWS) focus has been on maximizing guest experiences through innovative utilization of the best industry practices available. RWS is partnering Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC) to pioneer the “next practices” to increase customer satisfaction and experience enhancement. This is also aligned with its corporate social responsibility blueprint in engaging the community through mentorship and research which it will roll out in phases over the course of 2011. LARC will provide a unique opportunity and platform for RWS to test research initiatives that aid in understanding guest preferences and behaviours. Through this collaboration, RWS will be able to leverage the vast experience and deep expertise that the combined Singapore Management University (SMU) and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) team have in the technology aspects of data modelling, development of algorithms, predictive analysis, and in the social aspect of understanding how people behave and make choices in different contexts. RWS is looking forward to working with LARC to jointly develop these emerging next-practice capabilities for maximising customer satisfaction and enjoyment of every visit to the resort. Through this collaboration with LARC, RWS hopes to further develop guest service practices by harnessing real time “happenings”. For instance, operational data from Universal Studios Singapore, paired with information learnt from individual guests, will better allow RWS to make personalized and relevant recommendations to visitors that will make their time in the resort all the more enjoyable. This practice will also help streamline operations by monitoring guest flow and identifying common trends. Such recommendations can also be extended to include data from publically available social networks. Real time comments on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites can also be analysed and incorporated into the recommendations provided. Visitors may eventually be able to choose to have their personalised recommendations based on guest behaviours over the past few days or even as recently as the last few hours. They will also be able to make decisions based on the feedback provided by guests with similar interests that have previously visited the resort or even those who are at RWS that very moment. As interest in the resort grows, RWS will continuously look for ways to help its guests maximize their time during the visit and make the most of their experience. A key factor to enhancing guest satisfaction is enabling guests to spend more time enjoying the many offerings at the resort. - Mr Yap Chee Yuen, Senior Vice President and Head, Innovation & Technology, and Operation Services Resorts World at Sentosa Pte Ltd
